"Everybody I knew in the Neopagan scene who wanted to have paid clergy wanted to be paid clergy; there were very, very few people who wanted to do the paying!" This reminds me of the old joke about the commune already having a poet. This seems to be a problem in a lot of more fringe religious, or political movements. It's one of the reason many of them remain on the fringes.
