A concern is regards dendritic cells and the theory that the newer iterations of this pesky virus can hitch a ride via them to other parts of the body. This has been questioned, though. Also the idea that the virus can find itself gaining entry into the brain even with a fairly mild infection e.g. 'What do we know about covid-19’s effects on the brain?' https://www.bmj.com/content/385/bmj.q897
