Huh. The first time I saw the term "epistemic hygiene", it was in the context of practices that would help protect other people from catching erroneous beliefs from oneself, even where one wasn't oneself aware that those beliefs in particular had been erroneous. (Though in principle it should have also covered practices meant to avoid catching erroneous beliefs from other people.) I don't know how to feel about it having gotten this more general use of "improper handling of evidence that might make it go somewhere it shouldn't".
