Yes. At this point the US military is suffering a near-fatal case of bureaucratization -- the people who are running it have no idea how to fight (as witness Afghanistan and the failed NATO-planned counteroffensive in Ukraine) and the culture of complacency that pervades America's managerial caste makes it very likely that if we get into a shooting war any time soon, we will lose. (Not as in "have to go home without meeting our goals," but as in having to accept whatever terms the winning side chooses to dictate.) Returning to citizen militias and getting rid of most of the current military bureaucracy would mark a sharp improvement in America's capacity to defend itself.
