This will get a post of its own, but I can summarize the core of that post here. The UGC isn't focused, as so many modern Western religious organizations are, on congregational worship. The reason for that is precisely the one you've stated: personal gnosis is an individual matter. A UGC priest or priestess may officiate at weddings, funerals, et al., but the core of his or her activity is personal development of gnosis, on the one hand, and teaching others how to pursue the same goal, on the other.
There are ways to hold a UGC service for a group, but they don't have much in common with a conventional church service. In our tradition group meditations are welcome but sermons are not! I'll be discussing all this as we proceed.
