I'm a 32° Freemason, so can't speak with absolute certainty to the 33°, but what I know of Freemasonry is that it's a men's club with fascinating rituals most members don't understand at all. The 33° isn't awarded for spiritual status, it's usually conferred on longtime members who have contributed to Masonry by holding lots of offices, donating time to charitable activities, etc. The 33° Masons I've met are by and large wonderful human beings; most of them are devout Christians who spend their Sunday mornings at church; but maybe two or three of them, out of well over a hundred, have even the least connection to occultism.
