Toward Ecosophy

It is not that organized a question. I get the impression from Lon Milo Duquette’s book that making the sigillum dei aemeth, holy table, ring, lamen, etc yourself prepare the self adequately for the work. I know these are not part of the Golden Dawn’s version of the system and the horror story I have heard involved the GD adaptation. I have a close friend who likes magic but won’t do the daily calisthenics, which I find baffling. Yet I did a simple working with her after checking with divination and the results have been noticeable and pleasant so far. So I am wondering, if we sat together and etched these objects, if it might go fine for the two of us to start work with the basic aspects of the system, because I get uncomfortable at the thought of bringing her into rituals for which she has not practiced the preliminary exercises. Yet us making these objects—she’s an artist—might be an adequate initiation for both of us into a system neither of us have done any work with. I know what kind of information I would be looking for. It would be separate from my main personal work although it might provide some directional guidance. So I am feeling like the only way to know if there’s going to be an issue is to try a bit of it.
