Contra Celsum is a fascinating work for the light it sheds on the non-Christian environment of its age. In some details--e.g., Plato on the Third Eye"--it is the only surviving source we now have. (And it nearly didn't come down to us at all: IIRC, only one manuscript of it has survived.) Henry Chadwick made a good English translation of it, which you can borrow and read online (but not download) at archive.org.
