Might be, from a certain point of view. From another, it's helpful to be have a vocabulary that can communicate: I don't commit this or that "act" (and which acts are those? romantic hand-holding? lingering hugs? kissing?) because I'm a) in prison and lonely, b) a warrior dominating a defeated opponent, c) a sadist who relishes transgression, etc. etc.; I'm just this way and not that way.
I'm certainly not suggesting that the vocabulary we have is up to the task. But "gay" no longer means "homosexual," "homosexual" no longer means "exclusively same-sex attracted," "exclusively same-sex attracted" no longer means "same-*sex* attracted"... eventually we humans are going to have to get over these semantics (which I suspect are rooted in a real fear of the power that does reside words) and start listening to one another. And yes, I'm as guilty as any!
