I looked into this a bit. Terra preta soils are highly paramagnetic,so that's one tick. They also contain a lot of sharp pottery shards, which are diamagnetic. I think of them as something of a soil semiconductor. I see the pointy nature of the shards as similar to the waveguide like functions which Dr Callaghan investigated, as in, insect antennae or the tops of Irish round towers.
I suspect there's a whole ecosystem and landscape layer to this as well, that we haven't even begun to understand
