This Wikipedia article [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influenza_A_virus_subtype_H5N1] talks about the particular variety of bird flu that is resulting in the decimation of poultry flocks and householders' wallets worldwide (thanks for the heads-up on Frugal Friday! No I don't eat that many eggs.)
This A/H5N1 currently cannot easily jump to humans, but according to the article, one mutation would enable it to go human-to-human. And, it's supposed to be pretty virulent, with currently a 50% death rate in humans (when transmitted to the human from birds).
Your thoughts?
- Are the 50% who die of it the older, preexisting-condition, more vulnerable humans? - If one were to catch this bird flu, what would be some good things one can eat/drink/take/do to get you through it? (For example, there's the assertion I've heard that zinc hinders the reproduction of viruses, thus would be good versus a Coronavirus infection)
What about Bird Flu N5N1, really?
