I have eliminated the "incompetence" hypothesis even though I see many examples of incompetence everywhere. As Bret Weinstein has pointed out many times, even a completely incompetent regime would get some of it right by random chance. The covid response and the recommendations offered were completely wrong every time. We would have been better off if we'd done the exact opposite of what they recommended. You can't get it wrong every time unless you know the right answers.
My conclusion is that there was something else going on. Since there has been ongoing hysteria about over-population for the last 40 or more years I think it's pretty obvious that there was some intention in how it all played out.
