Magic Monday

Book of HaatanMidnight is upon us and so it's time to launch a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism, and with certain exceptions noted below, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after that point will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted.  If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 341,928th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.3 of The Magic Monday FAQ here

Also:
I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.  And further:  I've decided that questions about getting goodies from spirits are also permanently off topic here. The point of occultism is to develop your own capacities, not to try to bully or wheedle other beings into doing things for you. I've discussed this in a post on my blog.

The
image? I field a lot of questions about my books these days, so I've decided to do little capsule summaries of them here, one per week.  This is my seventy-fifth published book, the sequel to The Witch of Criswell and thus the second Ariel Moravec occult mystery.  Once again, it's eighteen-year-old Ariel and her adept grandfather on the case, investigating the theft of a rare magical book and a trail of clues that might lead to a pirate treasure hidden somewhere in the odd old East Coast port town of Adocentyn. Ariel and Dr. Bernard Moravec aren't the only ones on the trail, though, and the others will stop at nothing to get there first...

In case you can't tell, yes, I'm having enormous fun with these. You can get a copy here if you're in the United States and here elsewhere.

Buy Me A Coffee

Ko-Fi

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

***This Magic Monday is now closed, and no more comments will be put through. See you next week!***

Another fan here.

When I was a kid, I loved the Trixie Belden series, I have no idea what happened to all those books...

There were 38 in the series, can you match that?

We will see!

Oh there might be other ways of achieving longevity. Dion Fortunes efforts with The Moon Priestess come to mind.

Oh, yes, that is in there I suppose. I totally forgot. No, not even remotely what I had in mind. More along the lines of the rumor, that since the book was published after Dion Fortunes death, that the last parts were channeled posthumously.

Ok, then it is up to future generations to keep the franchise going with fan fiction.
I am sure we can find some future eccentric minority religious order initiate to write something like The Wierd of Kellinger: A series of stories where the misunderstood characters tell the stories from their point of view. 😉

Im just finishing up "The Witch of Criswell" and I had so much fun reading it, I ordered the other two. I have to thank you-- I haven't been into fiction since the 90's when I would pull books from my father's "Dragonlance" collection :)

I bought some cinquefoil from a new local occult shop this past February, based on what I read in your Natural Magic Encyclopedia. I figured it would come in useful at some point. I was pleased to learn some more, including its hoodoo name as Five Finger Grass in the book. I may not use it for invisibility, but there is plenty else. Also, besides the new shop in Covington, KY (just over the river from downtown Cincinnati) that I now have been to twice, my ham radio club recently moved meeting locations, and I discovered near the new one an African American conjure shop where I was able to pick up some High John the Conqueror Root and other items. It's right across from the Skyline chili where I eat dinner before the meeting, so very convenient to stock up, though again I haven't done anything with them yet. I had some things in mind, but divination had thus far told me no, so I'm waiting until I have the right combo for an amulet or the reading says go ahead. But I'm pleased their are some places to get supplies locally again...

I read about a charm for using some Five Finger Grass in a wallet to help with funds. Do you have any tips or experience along those lines?

I really love the Hooded One too... and I look forward to hanging out in South Adonecetyn. It sounds a bit like the westside of Cincinnati. There is a great Eastside / Westside divide here. I grew up on the Westside.

Sounds good about South Adocentyn...

... and thank you for this spell. This is the kind of thing I was looking for. I have the income, but the outflow has been a bit heavier than I'd like and its been harder to save. Thanks so much!

Hi, one more question on this... Can I substitute the sifted / crushed herb for a perfect leaf? That is what I have, but I will look at the conjure shop next time I go. Thanks.

Fantastic, I was thinking something along those lines would do the vibrational trick.
