Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 66

As we proceed through the second year of these open posts, it's pretty clear that the official narrative is cracking as the toll of deaths and injuries from the Covid vaccines rises steadily and the vaccines themselves demonstrate their total uselesness at preventing Covid infection or transmission. It's still important to keep watch over the mis-, mal- and nonfeasance of our self-proclaimed health gruppenfuehrers, and the disastrous results of the Covid mania, but I think it's also time to begin thinking about what might be possible as the existing medical industry reels under the impact of its own self-inflicted injuries. 

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before: 

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here. 
 
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue. 

4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. Also, please don't drag in current quarrels about sex, race, religious, etc. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules. 

With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

You say "doomed" to civil war or fragmentation.
While I hope civil war is avoidable, I don't see peaceful fragmentation as a bad thing.

The USA as a nation state will only survive as the dollar does.
If the dollar becomes worthless, there is not much left that holdes the states together.

I'm cautiously optimistic that we can avoid the civil war outcome.

1. A lot of people are being browbeat into continued allegiance to a party but are ready to break ranks if it clear that an alternative will win. I watched 35% support for an independent centrist governor candidate in Oregon get whittled down to 10% by a determined fear campaign powered by out-of-state party money casting her as a spoiler for the other, evil side. If that support had started at 50% I don't think those tactics would have worked, so perhaps we don't have far to go...

2. In our modern, climate-controlled, safety-focused existence, I don't think there is much appetite for real war. Lawlessness, crime, warbands, the beginnings of insurgency perhaps, but not Gettysburg or Antietam.

3. The two "tribes" are not as geographically separated as the media would have us believe. A few cities are 80-20 D-R, and the reddest rural areas are around 80-20 R-D, but all states and most counties have at least 30% identification with the minority tribe. Recent migration trends based on political affiliation are worrying in this regard, but I don't think it will be enough to really change the percentages. Furthermore there will probably soon be an exodus from blue cities due to the collapse of tech/virtual employment which will lead to more mixing. It's easy to hate the neighboring town but hard to actually wage war on them, and the continued intermixing provides some buffer to dehumanizing/othering tendencies.

All good questions. For my money, I'm happy to not extract revenge. As long as I know this won't come for the kids, I'm content. Right now I am far from sure of that. What is to be done then?

I think the key question is: how do you deter psychopaths? If you trace this back, it wasn't some mad, mass impulse that just sort of occurred, like weather, which set this off. It was particular individuals, with some kind of agenda, purposes unknown. It was trained for. It was premeditated. I mean, how else do we get a vaccine ready two days after "work" started? That wasn't premeditated? For real? Anyone selling any bridges? Once rolling, of course the mass madness appeared. But there are psychopaths that need to be deterred from the levers of power. How?

That reminds me that I need to stop being lazy and start stocking one for our house. Superglue for things that can get by without stitches. Suturing kits for things that do need them. Already have the iodine, but can never find it when I need it (because we have to hide it from the preschooler)... sigh. Husband likes to keep a tube of liquid N-Acetylcysteine around (hospitals use it in nebulizers for breathing treatments) because it's the thing to use for acetaminophen OD, and is very safe otherwise. Plus spare tweezers, the obligatory Oral Rehydration salts, etc.

One thing that's awfully handy but not everybody has around is a set of dental picks. They're fairly cheap and not just handy for pulling the odd embedded popcorn out of the gums. They(and some sterilized sewing needles) are also good for probing cuts to find and remove that last accursed sliver of completely invisible glass. I can't count the number of times I have had to do this (our household defaults to barefoot most of the year). For this, and related junk-stuck-in-feet problems, we also find a sterilized set of good toenail clippers (the ones with the flat cutter) is essential-- sometimes you have to clip away a bit of callus to get at the part you're working on.

I heard this from a friend from New Zealand, too. They have ultra-strict rules on paper, but her husband's app wouldn't work, and they couldn't get back in unless he could provide the dates of his vaccines. So he got a paper version from the ticket agent, and wrote down his wife's info, and that was good enough.

I think there was just something subconscious going on in these countries - a vague paranoia about threats from outsiders that in reality never materialize.

Like the above commenter, I stop in to NC for IM Doc's comments. I also pay a little attention to stuff in Yves' wheelhouse, finance.

Yves, Lambert and the rest are, as has been said, vaxxed and boostered. This after years of "don't trust the government, don't trust big pharma, don't trust big finance." Now they can't admit even to themselves that they did the exact opposite of their mantra.

For such allegedly hard-headed people, they have blind spots the same as anyone else. It's still infuriating to me that they will say absolutely nothing about the shots. Nothing!

I really enjoy Charles' essays. I guess he is simply asking for what every good wizard is suppose to achieve, self knowledge. Simple, but not that easy to distinguish your own anger from your hate. I think it is easy to hate, but hard figure out what to do with your anger that is constructive.

I appreciate the thoughtful response. I interpreted something that wasn't there in what you posted before. All the takeaways you posted are key. Fwiw I think the likelihood is high of a Waco-type response to any separation of religious group these days. I was throwing something out there in an effort to think of something.

A somewhat amusing story to show that there is no winning with everyone - my neighbors went to Ohio and saw Amish on electric bikes and couldn't help but social media post about how wrong it was of them to use electric bikes. You see, Amish are supposed to use regular pedal bikes.

I'm beginning to understand why "gossiping" was a criminal offense in the colonial period.
