Magic Monday

Midnight is upon us and so it's time to launch a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism, and with certain exceptions noted below, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after that point will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted.  If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 341,928th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.3 of The Magic Monday FAQ here. 

Also: I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.  And further:  I've decided that questions about getting goodies from spirits are also permanently off topic here. The point of occultism is to develop your own capacities, not to try to bully or wheedle other beings into doing things for you. I've discussed this in a post on my blog.

The image? I field a lot of questions about my books these days, so I've decided to do little capsule summaries of them here, one per week.  This is my seventy-eighth published book and nineteenth novel, a stand-alone (so far) tale set in 2095 or so. You could call it cli-fi (the current cute label for climate change fiction) if you like, or deindustrial SF; I'd call it a deindustrial noir Shinto science fiction spy thriller with Gnostic overtones. Jerry Shimizu, the two-fisted, gun-toting, half-Japanese tough guy who narrates the story, and the world in which he lives are interesting enough, at least to me, that he may get a sequel...but we'll see.  If you're interested, you can get copies here in the US and here elsewhere.

Hmm. The claim, as I understand it, is that they had very little access to news from home. Still, I suppose it's possible that some of the beings we call demons were basically offering the same sort of terms as people got in colonial times, when they signed on as indentured servants for x period of time in exchange for having their fare across the Atlantic paid!

After further thought I can actually think of a reason the return won't seal things even if the leap here did: karma. The returning souls will have karmic ties with us to deal with. If everything is sealed now, they can deal with the karma waiting when they get back;but if everything seals up when they get home, barring another transfer of a large number of souls, they will not be able to deal with karmic ties here.

That may simply mean that they have to wait for another six thousand years to resolve things...

Yamnaya

Speaking of 6000 years. This is roughly the time period when the Yamnaya culture began. I have read (and heard a cultural story from a Ukranian man) that these people were expansionist who spread out all over Western Europe until they had to contend other power centers like the corded ware people/bell beaker culture. I believe they are pitched as pioneers of extreme expansionism by some writers.

There were a lot of changes in process 6000 years ago, but yes, that was one of them.

Sudden realization:

If they entered our realm 6,000 years ago, well... 6,000 years before THAT was ca. 10,000 BC, the date associated with the start of the Holocene, the fall of Atlantis, and what the scientists have as the invention of agriculture.

And it's also quite interesting in light of this that the Judeo-Christian young-earth timeline puts the Earth at about 6,000 years old...
