Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 24

walking through a cemeteryThe semi-open posts  I've hosted here on the Covid-19 narrative, the inadequately tested experimental drugs for it, and the whole cascading mess surrounding them have continued to field a very high number of comments, so I'm opening yet another space for discussion. The rules are the same as before:

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.

3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.

4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.

With that said, as more and more vaccinated people call in sick with the disease the vaccine was supposed to keep them from getting, and the euphemism "died suddenly" sounds like a repeated drumbeat in the media, the floor is open for discussion.

praying about all this

I am wondering if people have suggestions (or experiences) to share about which spirits, saints, or gods to whom to pray for the best possible outcome for all this covid stuff (as far as health as well as for individual medical liberty). Or wondering if people might share their prayer intentions pertaining to all this. Thanks.

Apollo, Athena, and Aphrodite have been the deities I have been praying to.

interesting. back when the discordian spell was posted, i went out in the backyard, looked at the moon (it was to the east at that point in time, i.e. the direction of dc from where i live) and waved my arms and gobble gobble gobble gobble gobbled. the next few days were refreshingly normal.

i have a dear friend i suspect was part of the magic resistance to orange man bad. i passed along JMG's demonic influence hypothesis and she seemed rather sobered by it. it was around then that i decided i need to learn some more about this stuff, and as an atheist, i had no idea what deity i could adopt/pray to/worship. i went to a family dinner at my mom's house and found out my cousin's daughter has taken on the name of eris. it seemed like a sign of sorts, but i couldn't for whatever reason buy into it. eris was my first choice.

the next morning i was driving to work and athena by the who came on the radio. i hadn't heard that song in forever. and it stuck in my head for days. i thought "now here is a sign." your post makes me think i may have been onto something.

might have to ask for one of your readings on this ;-)

I pray to mother Mary to protect my child from disease, accident, neglect, and abuse, and that he live a joyful, long life on his own terms. That's about it. Everything else I can deal with, but having a kid and now I need faith! Oh, on second thought, sometimes I pray for grace for myself, that I experience it in the world and find it within myself; grace as in forgiveness and chances at new. For this one I don't pray to anyone in particular, I kind of direct it towards the concept of grace.

I don't think I'm doing praying "properly," but I like it as it is.

Hermes and AA Raphael have been most responsive

Hello Gawain,

Interesting pair Hermes and AA Raphael. I to pray sometimes to Raphael in a very informal and personal way so as to protect the children that are foxed and all humans from this dreadful experiment. Would you be so kind as to elaborate on your methods of prayer, are they the same for both, do you use a specific prayer(s) and would you care to share them with us, frequency, any rituals enacted with or during the prayers...

Thank you for asking as its prompted me think more deeply about how well I relate to both.
I offer prayer to Hermes (or Zeus) daily as part of my faith and invoke Raphael daily as part of my magical discipline, in that order, first thing. Prayer is offered with oil or honey, white candle, kerhnips and incense of frankense or storax, facing east. Prayer is best offered concisely and simply. Hermes answers quickly, clearly and unambiguously clearing the mind, healing, guiding and protecting.
Raphael is similar in many ways but quite distinct, with more effect in the subconscious, working methodically at the core of a problem. See The Book of Tobit as a reference.
Both have blessed my mental and physical health through these past months and helped me prosper materially.
For me and my family the deliberate mental abuse, the irrational mass formation and attendant evil directed at humanity has been quite a challenge to our mental health. A clear, confident mind and strong body is essential to solving problems and providing help and so Hermes and Raphael are honored daily.

Gawain,

Many thanks for answering my question.

You write : and invoke Raphael daily as part of my magical discipline.

Could you elaborate as to what kind of magical discipline, is the invocation part of a banishing ritual (SoP as an example)? How do you perform your invocation etc...

Sapienter,
Yes, I invoke Raphael daily as part of my lesser banishing ritual learned from JMGs' Learning Ritual Magic along with Michael, Gabriel and Uriel, Archangels of the four cardinal points and corresponding to the four elements, air, fire, water and earth respectively. Raphael corresponds to the east/air and is the AA/element with which I most readily resonate. Raphael responds well to invocation and/or prayer.
He is also the AA of Tiphareth on the Tree of Life, Beauty, where to my current understanding, the various forces come to balance and find expression in this life.
I find his character described very well in The Book of Tobit, a story of protection, deliverance and restoration which I find analogous to Jungs' individuation, a process that I find myself, and frankly our culture at large, working through right now.
So both Hermes and Raphael work in similar but distinct ways to guide, protect, encourage and heal me and my household through these "interesting" times. Of course, YMMV as we say here frequently.
I hope this is a help on your journey. Godspeed.

Second the AA Raphael suggestion; for Hermes I could not say, do not really know much about him.

If you are interested in (Canonical) Catholic Saints, there is this source here. The ones that stand out, for me, are:

Babies, Infants, Children’s Health – St. Philomena
Heart Disease, Heart Attack – St. John of God
Impossible Causes – St. Jude Thaddeus
Infections – St. Agrippina of Mineo
Lung and Respiratory Problems – St. Bernardine of Siena
Stress, Anxiety, Mental Health – St. Dymphna

Finally, tip hat to [personal profile] brenainn, if you are interested in non canonical saints, there is the case of one Jesús Juarez, aka St. Malverde. He was a Robin Hood type who robbed rich travelers and handed the money to the poor. Mal-verde was not his lastname, but a nickname (roughly) meaning "Green Woe" due to the green leaves he sewed into his clothes to take his prey by surprise; making him one of several people around the world who independently discovered camouflage. This last piece of trivia makes me think he might be not so much "the Saint of Criminals" but "the Saint of Stealth".

Hey there!

May I suggest Saint Roch? He is the patron saint of pandemics and invalids, and also bachelors and dogs.

This past summer, I ordered a portrait of St. Roch, and it arrived on August 16th, which is his feast day. I promptly hung it on the wall and told my non-Catholic husband that Roch was our new house saint. A few days later, my husband got Covid, likely the Delta variety. Despite living together in a 600 square foot cabin, I didn’t get sick and tested negative. I thank Saint Roch!

He’s a real likable fellow. I recommend getting to know him.

Here’s a picture of the portrait I bought (because the dog looks similar to my own):

As a Lutheran, I can pray straight to the top: the Creator, Redeemer, and Holy Spirit, incomprehensibly three-in-one. So far, so good. I've had a couple of "off" evenings, but felt all right again by morning. (No need to get tested, if tests were even available.)

I also wear masks (double-flannel, or N-95 shop dust masks for higher-risk areas), eat carefully, take a few extra vitamins (D daily, C+Zn on occasion), and keep a cautious distance. My God helps me make safer choices in this world.

I second Apollo. He was invoked in ancient times to deal with exactly pandemic disease and do away with nasties. I've been lighting a yellow candle for him at the planetary hour of the Sun every Sunday along with Kimberly's Orphic hymn to him. It seems to help.

In the Druid Revival pantheon Taranis, the god of Thunder, is also appropriate. The day I started praying to him I was treated with a thunderstorm so he seems responsive to the issue.

I've been meaning to step up my own prayers. How I do / Should be praying too.

Zeus (a lot of people don't know this but one of Zeus' titles is Leader of the Fates), Apollo, Hermes, Athena, Inari-Okamisama, Ami no Uzimi no Mikoto, and many many more.

I have found Isis to be an extraordinary healer through all of this. She has an incredible ability to kindle new life and justice out of the shredded remnants of leaders, lands, lovers, and lives that have become parched and depleted from their habitual complacency with finding themselves in too easy a perfect fit — from tilling the same row to death. The possibility of being flooded with rejuvenating energy in the midst of a sapped and disintegrating culture, suffocating in its own decadent comforts, is exactly the kind of healing I've been praying for.

For those who don’t know the story, Isis’ husband Osiris, the ruler of Egypt, was murdered by their jealous brother Set who had built a luxurious sarcophagus, which he offered to any member of the court who could fit in it perfectly. Only Osiris could, but it was a trap. Set sealed him in the sarcophagus and threw it into the Nile, where Osiris suffocated in the luxury he had found so alluring. Isis searched endlessly until she found Osiris’ body, which an enraged Set then tore into pieces and scattered far and wide. Isis again searched until she had found all the missing pieces of her lost love. Then, calling upon Anubis and Nephthys for help, Isis used her healing gifts to bring Osiris back to life for one night, during which they conceived Horus, creating new life out of death. After vanquishing Set’s lies and chaos, Horus went on to rule with wisdom and balance over a dawning new age.

I have no idea what the best possible outcome for all the dilemmas we’re currently facing would be. But I’m pretty sure that Isis knows and can help with at least a few of them. There are many missing pieces yet to be discovered before something healthy and vibrant can be conceived out of all this death panic. There are many lies and chaos that need to be vanquished before a new age can dawn.

May we all find ourselves so blessed as to retrieve the missing pieces of our lost love, hope, joy, and faith when this inundation of madness finally crests and retreats back between the banks that usually keep it contained. May Isis heal our dismembered souls.

I will third Apollo. Someone mentioned him in one of these posts some weeks ago. Had some immediate tsw moments when I began offering prayers and hymns to him. He seems to be on active duty right now.

For what it's worth, I'm a polytheist not a Christian, but I've been praying to Mother Mary for guidance, protection, and intercession for mercy on behalf of humanity.

I didn't think it through it consciously, but something made me reach out to her. I think it has to do with the Devouring Mother archetype that Simon Sheridan discussed on his blog. Mother Mary, the good, merciful mother archetype, just felt like a natural ally, I guess.

I always just pray to Father God and Mother Goddess, whom I regard as the masculine and feminine poles of the Spirit. You might say that in terms of deity-concepts, I have managed something of a hodge-podge between Christianity and Wicca.

(addendum to Father God/ Mother Goddess comment): If I were to gravitate towards a traditional pagan deity, it would probably be Mercury as the ruler of Virgo. If I'm going to invest any trust in one of these divine manifestations of the Spirit (we all are manifestations of the Spirit, as well, albeit mere mortal manifestations), he would have to have a Virgoan quality.
