Vintage Worlds Kickstarter

rocketJust a fast update -- we've got nine days left on the Kickstarter for Vintage Worlds 2 and 3, and while we're most of the way there, "most of the way" isn't home free. I'd like to encourage all my readers who enjoy good old-fashioned science fiction to consider kicking in a little, or a lot, to help get this project into orbit. Here's the link to the Kickstarter, and here's the link to the post here on my Dreamwidth journal that gives all the details. Thank you for your help with this!

***9/16/20 update:  Founders House Publishing has decided to sweeten the deal to encourage people to contribute to the Kickstarter. Everyone who kicks something in -- including those who have already signed up -- will also receive a copy of my first novel, The Fires of Shalsha -- a SF adventure set on a colony planet, which one of its reviewers described as resembling Seven Samurai as rewritten by Ursula K. Le Guin. Here are some details on the book...and you may want to have a copy, if you don't have one already, because the sequel -- Journey Star -- is finished in draft and in the middle of final revisions. Stay tuned for another announcement!***

Thanks for the reminder

Are they still looking for an artist for the covers.
I have an artist in mind, but can't bother him unecessarily.

Let’s get the thrusters ready!

I’ll chip in with the ebook bundle, nine books sounds like an awesome deal to me! I also look forward to reading Violet’s Zookie Must Die . I saw that there was a add-on option and was hoping to add your novels Retrotopia and Star’s Reach for a fair price. If at all possible to add that option or a similar one, I would happily contribute some more. Something like an “Ultimate ebook bundle for the long descent” maybe?

That is ok. Not much time left so I'll chip in with what I can and get the other books later. It is so close now to the mark! I'll try to share it with a distribution list at work. There are some SF fans at my office.

Backed. I haven't ordered the first anthology yet, but all your projects have been worthy so far. Good luck reaching the goal!

Journey Star is coming? Awesome news! I had asked about it a while back on a previous Dreamwidth post and ended up starting what turned out to be a lengthy discussion thread. When I read Fires of Shalsha, I literally stayed all night to finish it and then had to go to work on a couple of hours of sleep, so I am definitely looking forward to Journey Star.

Sounds good.
The Fires of Shalsha is one of the few books ended in a way that was mostly complete and didn't leave a lot that really begged for a sequel. Areas that were open to one but to me they were not super compelling story lines.

In WOH Red Hook Justin under the influence ( :-) ) brought back a lot of Jerre and the dwimmerwine.

Hopefully I'll have some books to give around Xmas.

Oooooo!! I recently finished the Weird of Hali series (for the second time) and was having serious JMG-fiction withdrawl. So I reread Shalsha. I am delighted that there will be a sequel available soon!

Starter duly kicked. Looking forward to it!

Looking forward to the sequel.
Any update on the After Oil 5 anthology? Maybe it's come down with a case of Covid?

75% Funded

HI, Shaun Kilgore here. The Kickstarter has reached 75% of its funding with about 4 days to go. I'm almost biting my nails in anticipation here.

Hi Shaun, this one's a nail-biter for sure. (Usually when I back something it's either 1000% over the target, or nowhere close.

I could use some more print copies of Star's Reach (I "loan" them to friends) and a print Retrotopia, so if you want to allow those volumes as add-ons, name the price.

It's funded - yay!

Oh boy, more Shalsha!

I'm completely thrilled to hear that Shalsha is going to have a sequel. It's one of those sci-fi books that sometimes drifts back into my mind when I'm thinking about something else. Something about that world just was very real to me. It's easily one of my favorite of your books, JMG, right up there with Star's Reach. May your muse be kind as you revise!
