Me, I've always thought that was one of Marcus's best comments, and literally true. You may have hold of something crucial regarding the bots, though -- I've seen repeated claims that some huge fraction of all internet traffic is produced by bots rather than people, and I could see constant interaction with bots making people more mechanical and rigid in their thinking and communication.
