Frugal Friday

Rule #1: this is a place for polite, friendly conversations about how to save money in difficult times. It's not a place to post news, views, rants, or emotional outbursts about the reasons why the times are difficult and saving money is necessary. Nor is it a place to use a money saving tip to smuggle in news, views, etc. I have a delete button and I'm not afraid to use it.
Rule #2: this is not a place for you to sell goods or services, period. Here again, I have a delete button and I'm not afraid to use it.
Rule #3: please give your tip a heading that explains briefly what it's about. Homemade Chicken Soup, Garden Containers, Cheap Attic Insulation, and Vinegar Cleans Windows are good examples of headings. That way people can find the things that are relevant for them. If you don't put a heading on your tip it will be deleted.
Rule #4: don't post anything that would amount to advocating criminal activity. Any such suggestions will not be put through.
With that said, have at it!
Re: Cleaning eye glasses?
When it is time to replace your glasses, there are online places that you can order prescription glasses from, if you know your prescription. You can even upload your picture and "try" the glasses on. My daughter has been getting her glasses that way for years. That is my plan, when my current ones need replacing.
Re: Cleaning eye glasses?
I've ordered glasses online. Unfortunately with my prescription they are still fairly expensive so I try to make them last.
I had to make a point of asking for my prescription. They have a huge display of glasses at the doctors office; selling them is obviously an important income stream.
Re: Cleaning eye glasses?
I looked on slimy river to see if I could find one with a similar texture. What I learned is that the textured ones tend to be called 'tech cleaning cloths' instead of 'eyeglass cleaning cloths'.
This one seems to have the same texture https://www.amazon.com/Absorbent-Microfiber-Cleaning-Cloths-Computer/dp/B008FPTID2?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Maybe check the electronics section of a store near you, to see if they have cloths there? The "tech cleaning cloths" are intended for TV screens, computer monitors, and such, so they might have some of the cloths there.
