I do a lot of travelling, and at one point I lived in India for a bit, and found that if I at a Westernized diet, it was brutally hot; and if I ate Indian style food, it was not nearly as bad. From there and with some experimentation I was able to work out that food has effects on our perceptions of temperature; and that some of the differences in cooking and food preparations are related to this.

I have no clue what features might matter; but I find it much easier to acclimate to different climates if I eat closer to how the people who lived there traditionally ate; taking into account such things as "this was good at this time of year".
