Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 172

how's that for a recordWe are now in the fourth year of these open posts. When I first posted a tentative hypothesis on the course of the Covid phenomenon, I had no idea that discussion on the subject would still be necessary more than three years later, much less that it would turn into so lively, complex, and troubling a conversation. Still, here we are. Crude death rates and other measures of collapsing public health are anomalously high in many countries, but nobody in authority wants to talk about the inadequately tested experimental Covid injections that are the most likely cause; public health authorities government shills for the pharmaceutical industry are still trying to push through laws that will allow them to force vaccinations on anyone they want; public trust in science is collapsing; and the story continues to unfold.

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:

1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry and its government enablers are causing injury and death on a massive scale. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.

2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its wholly owned politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.

3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.

4. If you plan on making off topic comments, please go away. This is an open post for discussion of the Covid epidemic, the vaccines, drugs, policies, and other measures that supposedly treat it, and other topics directly relevant to those things. It is not a place for general discussion of unrelated topics. Nor is it a place to ask for medical advice; giving such advice, unless you're a licensed health care provider, legally counts as practicing medicine without a license and is a crime in the US. Don't even go there.

5. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. Also, please don't drag in current quarrels about sex, race, religions, etc. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.

Please also note that nothing posted here should be construed as medical advice, which neither I nor the commentariat (excepting those who are licensed medical providers) are qualified to give. Please take your medical questions to the licensed professional provider of your choice.

With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

Former acting CDC director dr. Richard Besser:
"The idea that receiving vaccines would be parental choice scares me. You know, one of the things that we have in America is a contract between each other. And an important part of that in public health is vaccination. I vaccinate my children to protect them, but also to protect other people's children."

"You know, sending a child to school, you need to have that confidence that the child sitting next to them. isn't going to give them measles or whooping cough because their parent decided that they didn't want to get their child vaccinated because they're hearing all of this misinformation."

"We count on it. What if that child had an immune problem and they're in there and their parent and their children who decided not to be vaccinated? We vaccinate our kids because we care about our children, our families and our community."

Just popping in to share a few observations from Bluelandia, where I work.

In my neck of the blue-state woods, I have noticed that the 2024 reaction to the election of everyone's favorite Orange Hitler is different from the 2016 reaction. Both times, people lost their ever-loving minds immediately after, and in 2016 it seemed to just keep going (and going and GOING), whereas this time, it seems to have settled down into glum dismay a great deal faster. There was an eruption of TDS hysteria in my emails and some personal interactions on November 6 and immediately after, but by the following week, all was suddenly eerily quiet (where by "all", I mean I wasn't getting any more ranty emails or watching any work associates setting their hair on fire around the water cooler, figuratively speaking). I'm not entirely sure what to make of it just yet....I don't know if this is the calm before some new storm, or a sign that maybe, just maybe, some introspection might be happening.

Or not. Because in other news, they are still getting cootie-boosted. I've heard from at least two colleagues directly (and other stories second-hand) about how they were scheduled to get their shots, followed by notification that they were sick for days afterwards, and that's why the whatever-they-owed-me was late. These people are literally going out every year to get injected with a "protection" product that make them too ill to function for days, in order to avoid...catching a virus that might make them ill with cold symptoms for a few days. Because "science".

And of course, they all believe RFK Jr. is a loon with brain worms, but aren't really talk about it much...I get the impression they haven't learned their approved thought-stopper talking points just yet.

These people scare me!

I resonate with that fear. I was vaccinated involuntarily when I was admitted to the icu unconscious back in 2020. We all need strong advocates who know our wishes and are available and authorized to act on them quickly when something happens.

"We don't talk about the election" seems to be the unspoken rule at this time. Kind of like "we don't talk about the vaccines" once the mandates started getting rolled back and the vaccinated all got covid anyway.

It seems to have transitioned from a source of outrage and resistance (as in 2016) to a "does not compute" cognitive dissonance error.

Um, so if vaccines work, why don't they work?

Me, I'd worry about my kids spending time with kids whose parent seems to have such a problem grappling with basic common sense, basic human immunology, and most concerningly, basic decency which includes a respect for the rights of others.

Hello dear Mauve Erudie Stoat,

Same story here in my blue neck of the woods. But exactly.

1 - they are grieving for how horrible so many fellow citizens are that they would vote for the Bad Orange Man
2 - they are boosting
3 - they are coping with many baffling health issues that started in 2021-2022
4 - they think RFK is a loon with brain worms

It's actually sort of hilarious. But at the same time sad because I wish for them health and happiness. And as exasperating as I find them now, some of them I really miss.

enemy lines it is.
I think my siblings loathe me.
I've never said anything personally nasty or 'rubbed it in' to warrant that.

I've had this feeling they are slipping into narcissism but could be imagining that.
And I've wondered if their 'operationg system' is actually 'theirs.'

'Virulence seems to be increasing'

"So, they’re noticing in Italy that the case fatality rate is steadily climbing..." (now 3.3% from below 1% in August)

https://www.rintrah.nl/virulence-seems-to-be-increasing/

This is among those in hospital with a confirmed positive test - the hospitals are not full though and the infection rate amongst the general population doesn't seem that high. This notion of increased virulence does fit in with the idea the virus is becoming more immune evasive of particularly vixen induced antibodies. XEC and a newer fast growing variant LP.8.1 appear to be leading the way by introducing more and better placed glycans, according to Rintrah, which helps the virus evade antibodies. Is he onto something or just being paranoid?

Well, I'm watching fairly closely and yes, it would be worse for heavily vixenated with misfiring immune systems. Like these posts of JMG's (172 - really???!!!) this situation remains a developing one, even virally speaking.

Yep, people still are. My daughter reports from university that an instructor was out because the booster made his young (under 12 yo) daughter ill enough to stay home, and a classmate was overheard talking about having been out sick after boosting.

Seems that, among students, a number were knocked out after the university's boosting deadline (you either had to get the shot or state that you weren't getting it by Nov 1) and suffering the repercussions of having all their rights stripped of them and having their country descend into outright racist, misogynist fascism (/s). The poor dears.

You are not alone! My sisters and I just agree to disagree. They’ve had at least eight of the cooties shots. There was some talk of stopping shortly after they caught a bad case of the thing last winter. I know better than to follow up.

It gets old talking about the weather, but at least we talk. The fact they are 500 miles away might make this less painful than if they were nearby.

Weird times indeed.
