Magic Monday

The Secret of the TempleMidnight is  here, and so it's time to launch a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism, and with certain exceptions, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after then will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted.  If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.1 of The Magic Monday FAQ here

Also:
I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.  And further:  I've decided that questions about getting goodies from spirits are also permanently off topic here. The point of occultism is to develop your own capacities, not to try to bully or wheedle other beings into doing things for you. I've discussed this in a post on my blog.

The
image? I field a lot of questions about my books these days, so I've decided to do little capsule summaries of them here, one per week. The book above was my fortieth published book, and the product of an investigation that's still ongoing. I happened to notice back in the early 1990s, as a result of voracious reading in odd books, that a surprising number of temple traditions around the world are connected to legends about increased agricultural fertility. I know, that's supposed to be mere superstition -- but it's funny how often "mere superstition" turns into evidence that the ancients knew more than it's fashionable for modern intellectuals to admit. That launched a quest that resulted in this book. I've come to theorize that woven into the design and use of certain specific kinds of temples is a lost folk technology that boosts agricultural productivity. I've collected physical evidence (including controlled double-blind studies) that there are energies known to science that could have been concentrated and put to use with resonating chambers of stone, designed according to specific geometries, filled with volatile organic compounds, and activated with sound waves. What's more, it's a technology that could be rediscovered and put to work to help plants thrive now.

This book was my first progress report on that investigation.  It's about to go out of print -- Llewellyn, the original publisher, still has a few copies left on sale, which you can get here -- but there'll be another edition in due time, and probably a further book not too long after that, as I'm continuing to find relevant data. Yes, there are also other people busy with this; the prospect of a working model, so that the details of the technology can be tested in real world conditions, may not be far off.

Buy Me A Coffee

Ko-Fi

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

***This Magic Monday is now closed, and no further comments will be put through. See you next week!***

To clarify, I thought Jupiter's poor location was the source of pessimism, not Saturn. The moon for me is actually not in her detriment, she is over the line in a different sign and house. Venus is exalted but with a couple of tough aspects, and mercury aspects no other planets, and is angular but intercepted. Sun and Saturn are the strong planets for me.

I would pre-order that book!

On patreon you discussed how the Jupiter-Uranus Grand Mutations occur irregularly because of the relative orbital speeds of Jupiter and Uranus. The Jupiter-Saturn Grand Mutations occur regularly every 200 years. Which of the other Grand Mutations occur regularly like the Jupiter-Saturn Grand Mutations, and which ones occur irregularly?

What speed do astrological influences move at through the universe?

JMG,

Are you going to finish "The Road to Amalin" series that you started a few years back?

On b): Galina Krasskova has a book on ancestor worship generally called Honoring the Ancestors: a Basic Guide. I haven't read it yet, but have worked with some of her thoughts on ancestor worship from other, more explicitly Heathen books (like Northern Tradition for the Solitary Practitioner), and it's mostly pretty straightforward: regular offerings of lit candles, incense, and/or drinks, maybe occasional food offerings, and expressions of respect and gratitude. I think that this book also includes some material on "ancestral healing," which is a technique for helping troubled ancestral spirits get to where they need to be, and/or to repair your relationship with them, which I believe is based mainly on techniques from the African Diaspora religions of the Caribbean and South America.

I've been lucky enough to get along pretty well with all of my family I've known, but I find a good baseline feeling/intention is gratitude that I'm here with all of the opportunities I have, which I wouldn't be without them, whatever else they did. Thi is just a gut feeling, but it strikes me that perhaps your grandmother is trying to make right some things she feels like she didn't do enough to handle in life, and might appreciate your help enough to improve your relationship now versus what you had in life.

Hope this helps,
Jeff

Sorry, I intended it to be a broader question about the tools and tricks of the trade that could be used, which you answered sufficiently by saying it would take a post or a book. The specifics of my chart were only to provide a clear example of what I hoped to sort out with those tools if you ever get a chance to write that work. I don't require an answer to my specific chart situation, as I know that natal chart questions are useless to the community unless they're broadly framed so that everyone can benefit.

This reminds me of an old (by internet standards) video set to Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" with toy viking armor crudely photoshopped onto kittens. For anyone who does video, you can see it here: https://youtu.be/k9jTonnpRo0?feature=shared

Slightly more seriously, some recent genetic studies in Britain suggest that modern population genetics still track pretty closely to the medieval settlement patterns: modern Cornish people are mostly Cornish, Welsh Welsh, those from Essex and Sussex Saxons, and so forth. So, if you happen to know if any of your ancestors came from East Anglia, Northumbria, or Mercia (modern day Northeast England - Northumberland, Durham, Norfolk, Suffolk, and the Midlands), you might be able to figure out how much Anglo- is mixed with your Saxon (but the merger into a people that called themselves the "Anglo-Saxons" and now call themselves "the English" happened pretty early) . 23andme has incorporated these studies into their ancestry attributions, if you go for that kind of thing.

Cheers,
Jeff

Could someone adept help me consecrate an archangel Michael ring? I intuited I should wear one for the work I am about to embark on, but I don't know magic myself.

Or if anyone knows someone who can do this, please let me know.

Does the Golden Fellowship have both theurgy and practical magick practices? The last thing we want is an incomplete tradition.

Thank you for your response. You've given me some wholly new perspectives to meditate on.

And I've wanted to be a nun for a long time--that is, to take formal vows dedicating my life and all my efforts to my spiritual path--but I didn't think it was possible given that I'm not Christian or Buddhist. So I was delighted when I discovered the UGC's Order of the Universal Nun. Thank you so much for reviving it! I hope it blossoms into a beacon of light in these dark, difficult times.

Is there a way to learn something something just for this reason?

Also on your last point, what about the astrological talismans people like C Warnock sell?
