Interesting -- here in Rhode Island, at least, the rainbow crosswalks I've seen have been painted in the old set of colors. It's true, though, that the "progress pride flag" explicitly identifies some of the stripes with people, and if someone painted that on the street, yes, you'd be treading on them, and drivers would be driving over them...
