Magic Monday

Martinez de PasquallyIt's midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. With certain exceptions, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after then will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted. (I've been getting an increasing number of people trying to post after these are closed, so will have to draw a harder line than before.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ hereAlso: I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.

The picture?  I'm working my way through photos of my lineage, focusing on the teachers whose work has influenced me and the teachers who influenced them in turn.
I'm currently tracing my Martinist lineage, and at this point we've reached a genuine man of mystery, Jacques de Livron Joachim de la Tour de la Casa Martinez de Pasqually. Nobody knows when Martinez de Pasqually was born or where he came from; what's known about him is that he showed up in southern France in 1754, taught an extraordinarily rich system of Gnostic esoteric philosophy and practice to a circle of pupils that included Louis-Claude de St.-Martin and Jean-Baptiste Willermoz, and then sailed away to the Caribbean in 1772 and reportedly died there two years later. The image I've posted is one of the very few portraits of the man.

Buy Me A Coffee

Ko-Fi

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

Q2

Sorry missed a question, I used L9 to ask about doing OSA work on my emotions, it was very positive. Would L9 be applicable to ask about say jungian psychotherapy, or some other signifier?

Re: Summoning Demons

(Anonymous) 2023-08-14 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that is such a hoot, and in such poor taste, too! "Family friendly", we swear. Bring the kids along; we'll sacrifice them! At least they're finally doing their deranged summonings out in the open, so that more and more sane people can wake up and begin practicing blessings and protections.

The demons really are losing badly at this point. Now they've become desperate enough to blow their whole secrecy cover in the pathetic hope of getting Mom and Pop Minnesota to throw whatever minimal energy they can muster up into misguided summonings. When you're hoping that Mom and Pop Minnesota can somehow save you, your cause is already way past saving.

Thank you! Prompted by your post, I did a little reading into what mindful meditation is, and I see the distinction now. I had partially forgotten that the criticism of mindfulness meditation include that it is a technique removed from the spiritual background that it is meant to connect to.

I always wondered about lava being earth or fire, but I guess the Herb Kane paintings of her settle the debate.

I note that I'm mistaken; I believe you were referencing the Order of Essenes material at IAPSOP rather than the Modern Order of Essenes work you've been publishing. I will continue with the Modern order work and begin also looking through the Order of Essenes material. Thanks again.

Re: Tendon Healing

I hope you feel better soon. Tendon issues are really slow to heal, and very mentally challenging due to the length. Mine took nearly a a year+. Stay in the game mentally!

Wish you the best.

Never underestimate the ability for a truly committed sociopath or demon-possessed lunatic to master any modality of bodywork and apply it to harming rather than healing. Though it is rare for the deeply malignant to be drawn to alternative healing modalities (Mind you, the same can not be said for allopathic healing!), once they have learned to effectively channel the life force, they can enact an awful lot of harm by purposefully misdirecting it.

As for intention versus ability/training, there's two very different questions in there. For practitioners with healthy intentions, their training/ability are usually the more important measures. However, for practitioners with deranged intentions, no amount of training will be able to overcome their intention to inflict harm. In fact, the more training they receive, the more harm they will be able to inflict.

Any time you pick up on bad energy coming from a healer, find another one. You are allowing that person to channel energies through you, which should feel like a healing process. If it does not feel that way with any consistency, then they may have a decidedly different intention from your ever leaving them in any way healed. That guidance would apply equally to psychotherapists, hypnotists, and singing bowl players.

There have always been people who revel in causing harm and discomfort in others. Fortunately, the rest of us have subtle senses that can allow us to pick up on their disturbed energy signatures. Trust your intuition, and always back carefully away from that particular kind of crazy.

Another question- I've noticed that when I scry I tend to get tired out very quickly. How can I replenish the psychic energy expended? It makes me not only physically exhausted, but emotionally drained if that makes sense.

Also, are there any books that provide good guidance on sharpening scrying skills?

Masonry

(Anonymous) 2023-08-15 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Mr. Greer,

This is not strictly magical but I thought it may be of general interest. I can move the question to the open post if preferred.

In a comment to another dreamwidth post you mentioned how valuable that you have found masonry to be in your life. I've been considering the idea of masonry for some time but as of yet haven't formed any lodge connection. If you have a moment:

1. Generally what benefits has masonry brought you?

2. My understanding is that the rituals in masonry are more formal than magically effective at this point. Do you feel that is so generally? Do you feel like there is still value in the masonic ritual work?

3. Finally, I know a full taxonomy of masonry would fill a book but for the confused could you perhaps outline the main types of masonry active in the US and any substantive differences between them?

Apologies if this is in any way too personal. I don't have personal connection to any masons and so any kind of first hand info would be helpful in knowing whether masonry would be a beneficial experience for me.

Thanks,
shimrod
