Magic Monday

LC de SMIt's getting toward midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. With certain exceptions, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question or comment received after then will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted. (I've been getting an increasing number of people trying to post after these are closed, so will have to draw a harder line than before.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ hereAlso: I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.

The picture?  I'm working my way through photos of my lineage, focusing on the teachers whose work has influenced me and the teachers who influenced them in turn.
I'm currently tracing my Martinist lineage. Papus and Chaboseau, the honorees of the last two weeks, each got their Martinist lineage by a tangle of mostly forgotten figures, so we can jump straight back to one of the founders of the tradition, Louis-Claude de St. Martin. St. Martin was born in 1743 in an aristocratic family and became a student of the elusive master Martinez de Pasqually, learning the distinctive system of theurgic magic Pasqually taught. Later in life, after Pasqually's death, he focused more of his attention on Christian mysticism, studied Jacob Boehme's writings, and penned a series of influential mystical tracts under the pseudonym "The Unknown Philosopher."

Buy Me A Coffee

Ko-Fi

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use either of the links above to access my online tip jar; Buymeacoffee is good for small tips, Ko-Fi is better for larger ones. (I used to use PayPal but they developed an allergy to free speech, so I've developed an allergy to them.) If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

And don't forget to look up your Pangalactic New Age Soul Signature at CosmicOom.com.

With that said, have at it!

***This Magic Monday is now closed. See you next week!***

This is more of an offhanded observation that has fascinated me, not something that I feel I must resolve or even look into very deeply. Have you ever encountered "clues" to past life experiences that are based on hard fact or undeniable synchronicity (rather than memories that come back after extensive spiritual work)? Here's the example from my own life. When I was much younger, I constantly met people from a very small geographic area (Iceland). These people didn't necessarily know each other, and I didn't meet them through a chain of each other (if that makes sense), but rather very randomly—-one turned out to run a shop in the town where I was living, another came to visit a relative in a different town I moved to, another was in the same college course, and yet another was in a different college course with me, and so on. (And really is "and so on"--I have left out several more examples.) There are fewer than 300,000 Icelanders total, and for several years, I met them everywhere. I ended up visiting the country, where I had some very odd experiences (a story for another time). Curiously, I had no issue picking up the language even though language is not my strong suit. Supposedly Icelandic is one of the hardest European languages to learn, but I found it easier than Spanish.

Later, my life took a decisive turn in another (better direction), I married a non-Icelander, and—poof! I stopped meeting them everywhere, and I fell out of contact with everyone I knew from that world. Quite happily, too.

My question is about whether this kind of thing points to a recent past life either in Iceland, or in a kind of "karmic network" (for lack of a better term), that included many of these same people. That said, I am rather cautious about investigating this too much. I don't feel a burning need to know about my past lives, and I don't want any renewed connection to the people from that time in my life (or Iceland itself). I feel relieved that karmically, that part of my life feels very much done. It's more of a kind of light curiosity that comes back to me sometimes. I was wondering if karmic webs like this are common, and how often they are tied to particular places, if you knew or had insights? (Or anyone else from the commentariat!)

Thank you!

I wonder if in your last life you might have made some sort of vow to remarry someone from Iceland in your next life.
