There are many different Gnostic churches, each with its own take on the quest for gnosis. Hoeller's church is one of them. The UGC is another. Since gnosis can never be reduced to an orthodoxy, it's not my place to pass judgment on anybody else's gnosis; I will say that the EG has a very good reputation, and I've learned quite a bit from Hoeller's books.
