Magic Monday

Herman SpruittIt's just past midnight, so we can proceed with a new Magic Monday. Ask me anything about occultism and I'll do my best to answer it. With certain exceptions, any question received by midnight Monday Eastern time will get an answer. Please note:  Any question received after then will not get an answer, and in fact will just be deleted. I've been getting an increasing number of people trying to post after these are closed, so will have to draw a harder line than before.) If you're in a hurry, or suspect you may be the 143,916th person to ask a question, please check out the very rough version 1.0 of The Magic Monday FAQ hereAlso: I will not be putting through or answering any more questions about practicing magic around children. I've answered those in simple declarative sentences in the FAQ. If you read the FAQ and don't think your question has been answered, read it again. If that doesn't help, consider remedial reading classes; yes, it really is as simple and straightforward as the FAQ says.

The image? I'm still tracing my lineage in photographs. At some point after the death of Bishop Shaw, a question arose about the legitimacy of the apostolic succession of the Universal Gnostic Church. John Gilbert arranged to settle the matter in the traditional way by receiving sub conditione consecration from Archbishop Herman Adrian Spruit of the Church of Antioch; that's Archbishop Spruit in the photo. Sub conditione?  That's the technical term for a second consecration given to a bishop in case the original one didn't have valid lineage, and Spruit was the man to give it.

He was born in 1911 and started out his religious career as a Methodist minister, but he became convinced that a more sacramental and less dogmatic approach to Christianity was needed, and so he joined the Independent Sacramental Movement and was consecrated as an independent bishop. At that time there were sixteen different lineages of apostolic succession outside the control of the established churches, and squabbles between independent bishops about the validity of the different lines were common. Spruit ended that in an exceptionally graceful way. He arranged to be consecrated sub conditione in all of the lineages, and then conferred the same consecration on any bishop or qualified candidate for the episcopacy who requested it. These days practically every bishop in the Independent Sacramental Movement has all sixteen lines -- yes, including me -- and the squabbles are over. Bishop Spruit's Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch remains an active independent church, and so do many of the other independent churches who received his blessing.

I've had several people ask about tipping me for answers here, and though I certainly don't require that I won't turn it down. You can use the link above to access my online tip jar:  PayPal for now, but that'll be replaced by a couple of other options shortly. If you're interested in political and economic astrology, or simply prefer to use a subscription service to support your favorite authors, you can find my Patreon page here and my SubscribeStar page here.

Bookshop logoI've also had quite a few people over the years ask me where they should buy my books, and here's the answer. Bookshop.org is an alternative online bookstore that supports local bookstores and authors, which a certain gargantuan corporation doesn't, and I now have a shop there, which you can check out here. Please consider patronizing it if you'd like to purchase any of my books online.

I've recently quit a job that was fast becoming intolerable. The job involves working at a restaurant which has two locations: the one I was hired for, and a second one; until recently, although both locations were under the same ownership, they had completely separate staff, and I had never been to the other store. This recently changed, with the owner deciding, for complex reasons I don't fully understand, to have management from both stores work at both locations.

This includes someone who is incredibly nasty and abusive, and spends a great deal of time complaining about various problems, usually to someone who is not responsible for the issue; dealing with him leaves a lot of us in exceedingly foul moods, even going above and beyond what seems reasonable given what he says or does. I've come to suspect that he is transferring his frustration into other people, which you've said before is a common occurrence.

A few days ago, I went to work at the other location, since several people had called in sick over there. I happened to know that the terrible manager would not be there, and in fact would be at the store I normally worked at, which was part of why I decided to go over there, a decision I fairly quickly regretted.

On the physical level, the store is nice enough; in fact, it has a better layout than the one I normally work with, but it felt toxic in a way which is hard to describe. The atmosphere of the store felt off somehow, in a way which left me feeling very uncomfortable and unusually irritable the entire time I was there.

The people who work there tend to be either very new, or exceptionally foul and unpleasant people; there is apparently a very high rate of turnover for staff there, with most people who are competent and/or pleasant leaving within a few months of getting a job there, leaving behind the core of exceedingly foul and unpleasant people, who do the absolute minimum needed to get by. The food, which is the same as at the store I usually work at, also tasted off somehow, in a way I'm not sure I can explain.

Finally, the location also has a lot of problems with people getting sick, at far higher rates than the store I normally work at; this is part of why I'd never met any of the people who worked at the other location before I went over there.

Does this sound like what I was sensing was that the inner plane environment in that store has gone septic, possibly as a result of having had that abusive manager pouring out his frustration into the environment there since he started working there around 40 years ago?

Could this also explain why so many shady and sketchy people end up in that store? Are they somehow being drawn to it?

(Anonymous) 2022-11-28 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Would this mean that even if the terrible manager leaves, the toxic environment at that store may have become self sustaining, and could persist because of the kinds of people drawn to it even without the forces which originally created the toxic conditions?

Hmm. What sort of things would you expect if someone did (say) the LBRP there?

So, given that every commercial establishment has at least the occasional issues which could go septic, would it make sense to ensure that someone perform something like the Rose Cross at least once a week in any kind of commercial establishment?

That explains Washington, D.C.

Something else just occurred to me: the terrible manager had, initially, seemed only a little unpleasant, but as the conditions at the store where I worked started deteriorating, he seemed to get ever more and more unpleasant to be around. He is spending most of his time at the store I worked at, and sending the other manager, who is in theory supposed to be at my store most of the time, to his. He has been quite determined, in fact, to spend as much time as possible away from his store, and it seems that the more and more septic the environment gets, the more and more unpleasant he is becoming to deal with.

This, however, makes a lot of sense, since he's still affected by the environment he's in, just like anyone else; and the more septic it gets, the more and more miserable he feels, just like everyone else around him. This, of course, means that the more negative energies he pushes out into the environment, the more negative energy he has to deal with, and so he's stewing in a toxic mess of his own making....

Would the food tasting off and illnesses be related to toxicity on the etheric level?

(Anonymous) 2022-11-28 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
In the case of the food, I think it's worth noting that it was made by someone who works at the location I normally do, who is a tad obsessive about proper cooking, so at least that element is controlled for; but either way, it would be related to the toxic environment....

If you were given the task of cleaning up a location like this, how would you go about it?

(Anonymous) 2022-11-28 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
a) Why would it be necessary to replace all the staff, rather than just the atrocious manager and the worst offenders?

b) Would whatever issues the staff had that either drew them there or occurred as a result of working there end up manifesting at the other locations you sent them to, if you chose that option?

Could we do this with the United States?

Heavy duty cleaning, fresh management, and a grand re-opening sound wonderful.

a) Would the severance pay serve any kind of occult purpose, or is that just a kind gesture towards the staff?

b) Why would it be necessary to redecorate?

c) I will be receiving a fairly substantial inheritance, and am considering using some of the money to buy a few local restaurants off their current owner, one of which has similar issues to the above. The restaurant itself is in an ideal location, and so should fairly easily become highly profitable if the toxic energies are cleared.

Cleaning it energetically would require skills well beyond what I have, so do you know how to find people who would be both willing and able to assist with this? If this goes through, I would be willing to pay generously for the help with sorting this out, but don't know where to look.

Would the industrial cleaning serve any kind of occult purpose, or is it merely to deal with any kind of physical mess that could occur as a result of the mess on the inner planes?

What kind of effects would prolonged exposure to such environments have one someone?
