I think it’s important to distinguish between the people who were tricked and the people who did the tricking.

It doesn’t excuse all of everyone ‘s behavior, but it’s still a very important distinction. I really would consider some sort of amnesty and truce among the people whose main flaw was believing what they saw on the news….. after there are real consequences for the institutions and people knowingly spreading misinformation and suppressing true information and, more importantly, suppressing dissent.
