Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 54

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:
1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.
2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.
4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.
With that said, the floor is open for discussion.
Re: A New Literary Genre!
(Anonymous) 2022-08-17 04:24 am (UTC)(link)It seems like a leftist type of strategy of controlling debate through shaping what can be said or objected to. For example: "I find this or that offensive, so you can't say it" etc.
My natural response is to recoil from that type of thing, and to let it go, because if they are challenged, then the next play from those who assume this sort of 'positional authority' or status for themselves is 'Nurse Ratched' style cruelty and tyranny to put one in one's place in the most condescending and humiliating way possible for additional sadistic thrills.
I'm not sure it's a good idea to let the 'Little Eichmanns' who assume that they hold a position of power over us get away with it, no matter how well intentioned they may think they are - and I am not convinced that people who do that sort of thing actually do have good intentions, it's probably more that they are seeking a psychological kick from themselves from power/status/'likes' more than protecting society or whatever.
I don't have a good response for how to deal with them though - because although I don't particularly like having confrontations, especially in public; however, sucking it up and letting them get away with it seems like a bad idea because that might actually be contributing the disaster more broadly.
Does anyone have any tips?

(Anonymous) 2022-08-17 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)I have tested positive for dirtyelmoism. My fur is not too sticky and stinky, and I am taking baths and using Cookie Monster's clean towels and Miss Piggy's hairdryer. I am also following Big Bird's guidance and staying away from all other puppets, especially Kermit, until I can test negative. I am so thankful that I could be vaccinated against dirtyelmoism— and on TV! It's so great to be vaccinated, I feel like a big puppet! I hope everybody can be vaccinated!
