Open (More or Less) Post on Covid 54

So it's time for another open post. The rules are the same as before:
1. If you plan on parroting the party line of the medical industry and its paid shills, please go away. This is a place for people to talk openly, honestly, and freely about their concerns that the party line in question is dangerously flawed and that actions being pushed by the medical industry et al. are causing injury and death. It is not a place for you to dismiss those concerns. Anyone who wants to hear the official story and the arguments in favor of it can find those on hundreds of thousands of websites.
2. If you plan on insisting that the current situation is the result of a deliberate plot by some villainous group of people or other, please go away. There are tens of thousands of websites currently rehashing various conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 outbreak and the vaccines. This is not one of them. What we're exploring is the likelihood that what's going on is the product of the same arrogance, incompetence, and corruption that the medical industry and its tame politicians have displayed so abundantly in recent decades. That possibility deserves a space of its own for discussion, and that's what we're doing here.
3. If you plan on using rent-a-troll derailing or disruption tactics, please go away. I'm quite familiar with the standard tactics used by troll farms to disrupt online forums, and am ready, willing, and able -- and in fact quite eager -- to ban people permanently for engaging in them here. Oh, and I also lurk on other Covid-19 vaccine skeptic blogs, so I'm likely to notice when the same posts are showing up on more than one venue.
4. If you don't believe in treating people with common courtesy, please go away. I have, and enforce, a strict courtesy policy on my blogs and online forums, and this is no exception. The sort of schoolyard bullying that takes place on so many other internet forums will get you deleted and banned here. No, I don't care if you disagree with that: my journal, my rules.
With that said, the floor is open for discussion.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-22 02:46 am (UTC)(link)And he won't want to bite the hand that feeds him.
Not when he is just 'the talent' who was recruited for his image, and probably largely faux credentials, to spruik whatever stupid the authorities wanted:
- First, connected insiders (industry groups, think tanks etc) decide that something needs to be done and passes that instruction on to the politicians, who in turn instruct the public service executive to get on with it.
- Executive then establishes a team of 'shadow men' who operate under a terms of reference that sets out what their purpose and precludes then from acting independently of the will of their masters' interests - this may or may not be written down.
- Senior insiders pick 'talent' to be the face of the operation
- the propaganda team is responsible for lower level operational strategy and tactics, but these must align with their masters' will more broadly, and it is responsible for organizing/writing all the speeches, talking points, publications, media releases, events, meetings, travel, and so on.
- 'the talent' goes out and says what it is told to say, and signs and claims whatever is written/organized by the propaganda team as if it was their own ideas/work.
Every now and again in this process, the talent (which may have a good image but lack any real depth - and who would argue that this guy is a capable person after all that he has been associated with?), goes off reservation and has to be managed to stay inside their lane - this could be one of those occasions.
Or maybe the machine behind him is also concerned? If they aren't they should be. However, this seems like a pretty low rent production from the video, which makes me doubt that it's got a whole machine behind it.
Perhaps the 'policy doctor' is concerned about fear of reprisals (wants everyone to forgive and forget as you say - if yes, well good luck with that), or is keen to recover his now damaged kudos/career after participating in all that PR and publicity wherein he said so many things that were so obviously wrong?
Usually it's probably a lot safer and easy money line of work - all they normally have to do is read and say some things that's all prepared for them, turn up to meetings to endorse what they are told to endorse, press the flesh with the other talent, etc. But I guess being masters' bXtch is not without risks. Still, I guess that's part of why the talent gets paid the big bucks for their role in the propaganda machine. Too bad though buddy - he's struck out and gotten tarnished. He might even have to say goodnight to a future career in politics or whatever now.

Maybe he decided the dog days were over ;-)
I know there was condensation on my windows for the first time this morning.
Though I guess in Australia it would be a dingo. (There is a classic car restoration company here called Dingo Restoration with the tagline "We'll take good care of your baby!" I have a lot of questions I'd like to ask them about the thinking process that went into that).
