Yes, those are also important factors. The hypothesis I've brought up only defines one set of variables, and there are many others. That said, there's evidence that oceanic currents are slowing down, and a blue-water Arctic would slow them much further, since here again you wouldn't have the same drastic temperature difference between equatorial and arctic waters.
