Perhaps somewhere near the Mississippi River would be a safer option? Maybe it'll become the North American equivalent of the Nile? That's assuming this climatic change doesn't dry up the Mississippi, too. I know virtually nothing about this kind of thing, so I'm kind of firing in the dark here.
