Also, agricultural practices that feature highly concentrated animal populations facilitate interspecies jumps of viruses. (That happened in Kansas where the "Spanish flu" originated.) Nothing especially related to geography, just bad, highly concentrated, agriculture

Have been dying to read a book on just this topic, titled "Big Farms Make Big Flu" but I cannot justify the cost right now.
