The story of the literal book-burning by the U.S. Government of Reich's work is one of the hardest strikes ever documented against the facade of "totally reasonable, scientifically evidence based medicine." The real scientific method advances by repeating experiments, analyzing, and discussing, not by burning evidence and analysis alike and putting people in jail for having conversations about the subject. Hmm, would it be accurate to say Reich was the first notable victim of Cancel Culture?
SamChevre, thank you for the link to Unsong in last week's comments about magic/fantasy fiction. I read the whole novel, except that I accepted the author's suggestion for sensitive readers to skip over the detailed descriptions of the tortures of Hell. I enjoyed the novel immensely, and found it thought provoking. I wonder if readers who weren't already familiar with the Qabalah would be totally lost.
